8 Ways to Engage on Social Media
Get more from Social Media by following these simple tips
⛔ Don't try to look bigger than you are.
I tried to build an agency thinking it would attract bigger clients. It didn't. I was trying to grow too fast and realised people buy from people. Not a faceless company. They should learn about your brand through you.
✅ Target the right people
Social Media is a big place and can feel overwhelming. Keep it simple and speak to your community. This make it easier to feel like you are speaking to the right people and will get better engagement.
I started by following, connecting and posting to Agency Owners, because lots of agencies need additional resources and thats what I did at the time.
✅ Post on LinkedIn (or other socials)
Consistency is key. Mix your posts up, some can be about you, some about your business, achievements or general life. Remember, it’s you as a person they will enjoy learning about. Then I engage with others posts so people know I'm an approachable human.
✅ Connect with other peers
I actually build relationships with others in my industry. Although my audience is small business owners (Gatsboy), having a good peer network with agencies and developers is hugely beneficial. They often refer customers or offload work and you build friendships as well as working relationships.
✅ Help each other out
Sometimes I get people just asking a few questions and I'm always happy to help. It doesn't always lead to business but often it can lead to business later down the line.
⛔ Don't spread yourself too thin
It's easy to accept everything that comes in and end up overwhelmed and working late nights and weekends. You've got to manage expectations and your time properly or you don't just let yourself down but others too.
✅ Make time for lunch!
Quite often I'd go without to keep up with work and it's important to keep yourself fed and watered to keep momentum.l rather than running on empty.
⛔ Don’t rush
Mistakes will be made and it'll cost you in time in the end if you rush. You will know how long you need and this comes with experience. Give yourself time to do a good job because the benefits of a strong portfolio of work and a happy customer are great.
